Aram Vardanyan (77 kg) became the 2025 Asian Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, winning his first gold medal in major international tournaments.
At the competition held in Amman, Jordan, the 29-year-old Armenian wrestler representing Uzbekistan showcased a high level of skill and confidently progressed through the tournament bracket. In his first two matches, he secured dominant victories over opponents from Kazakhstan and Jordan with a score of 9-0. In the final, Vardanyan faced Iranian Alireza Abdevali and won 4-2, claiming the Asian Championship title.
Interestingly, Aram Vardanyan is the cousin of well-known MMA fighter Eduard Vartanyan, who has also achieved significant success in mixed martial arts. Now, the Vardanyan sports family has another champion, further proving the high level of Armenian wrestling on the international stage.
