Anna Amroyan to Miss World Weightlifting Championships Due to Injury

World junior champion and Armenian national team member Anna Amroyan will not compete at the 2026 World Weightlifting Championships, scheduled to take place in Ningbo, China, from October 27 to November 8.

The Armenian weightlifter will miss the season's biggest competition due to an injury sustained during the European Junior and U23 Championships.

According to Artashes Nersisyan, head coach of Armenia's women's national weightlifting team, Amroyan's participation in the World Championships could have aggravated the injury. The coaching staff decided not to risk her health and to give her sufficient time to make a full recovery.

The exact date of her return to training and competition remains unknown.

As a result, Armenia's women's weightlifting team has lost one of its promising athletes just days before the start of the World Championships.
