Aleksandra Grigoryan Bounces Back with Strong Clean and Jerk Performance
The Armenian athlete struggled in the first discipline, the snatch. Grigoryan successfully lifted her opening weight of 85 kg but failed both subsequent attempts at 90 kg. As a result, she finished only sixth in the snatch.
However, Aleksandra showed determination in the clean and jerk and managed to fight her way into medal contention.
Her opening attempt at 113 kg was unsuccessful, but the Armenian weightlifter recovered by successfully lifting 114 kg. For her final attempt, Grigoryan took a significant risk, increasing the weight to 120 kg, and completed the lift successfully.
The result earned her the bronze medal in the clean and jerk at the World Championships. Notably, Grigoryan had also lifted 120 kg at the 2024 World Championships, where she earned a medal in the same discipline.
With a combined total of 205 kg (85+120), Aleksandra finished just outside the overall podium in fourth place. She was nine kilograms short of the bronze medal in the total.
