Aleksandra Grigoryan Named Best Young Weightlifter in Europe for 2024
20-year-old Armenian weightlifter Aleksandra Grigoryan has been named Europe’s Best Young Athlete of 2024 by the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF). The decision was made based on the outstanding results she demonstrated throughout the season, according to the Armenian Weightlifting Federation.
In 2024, Grigoryan delivered a triumphant performance on the international stage, becoming the European champion among seniors, winning a bronze medal at the World Championships, and taking gold at the European U23 Championships. These achievements allowed her to surpass several strong contenders for the award.
It is worth noting that this is a newly established award being presented for the first time this year. The awards ceremony took place during the opening of the 2025 European Championships in Chișinău, Moldova.
