23-year-old Aleksandra Bibikina, representing the Armenian national team, won a silver medal at the 2025 European Diving Championships held from May 22 to 28 in Antalya, Turkey.
Bibikina placed second in the 3-meter springboard event, finishing behind only Michelle Heimberg of Switzerland. Final standings:
- Michelle Heimberg (Switzerland) — 335.10
- Aleksandra Bibikina (Armenia) — 322.95
- Lena Corona Hentschel (Germany) — 312.70
This is Armenia’s first-ever medal at the European Diving Championships. Previously, in 2018, Vladimir Harutyunyan and Lev Sargsyan won bronze in synchronized platform diving, but that was part of the broader European Aquatics Championships.
Other athletes also represented Armenia in Antalya. 17-year-old Alisa Zakaryan placed 12th in the 10-meter platform event. The duo of Marat Grigoryan and Arman Enokyan finished 7th in synchronized platform diving. In the team event, the mixed Armenian team also placed 7th, behind winners from Ukraine.
Bibikina also competed in other disciplines — she finished 4th in the 1-meter springboard event.
Bibikina’s debut for Armenia
Aleksandra Bibikina previously competed for Russia, but since the beginning of 2025 she has represented Armenia. Her debut for the new team was at the Eurasian Countries Cup in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
“Why did I decide to represent Armenia? I want to dive, I want to compete internationally. A sports career is short — I’m already 23 this year, so I thought it over and decided to change my sporting nationality,” Bibikina explained.
