The final of the 2025 U20 World Wrestling Championships in Greco-Roman style concluded in Bulgaria, where Armenian wrestler Alex Margaryan won the silver medal in the 63 kg weight category. In the decisive match, he lost to Uzbek wrestler Aytjan Khalmakhanov.

It should be noted that Aytjan Khalmakhanov is the reigning Asian Champion among seniors.

Alex Margaryan’s results at the U20 World Championships:

  • 1/16: Alex Margaryan (Armenia) – Hao Yang (China) 5:0 + pin

  • 1/8: Alex Margaryan (Armenia) – Lendon Drury (USA) 8:0

  • 1/4: Alex Margaryan (Armenia) – Mohammad Abutalebi (Iran) 9:5

  • 1/2: Alex Margaryan (Armenia) – Kristian Milenkov (Bulgaria) 9:0

  • Final: Alex Margaryan (Armenia) – Aytjan Khalmakhanov (Uzbekistan)

Thus, the Armenian national team has already won three medals – one gold and two silvers. Earlier, Gaspar Terteryan (72 kg) became champion, while Yurik Mkhitaryan (60 kg) claimed silver.
