Alashkert qualify for Europe, Ararat avoid relegation: key results of the final round of the Armenian Premier League

The first two matches of the final, 27th round of the Armenian Premier League were played on May 26. These games decided the main storylines of the end of the season: the fate of the last European qualification spot and the team finishing bottom of the table.

In one of the key matches of the round, Alashkert defeated Shirak 2-0. This victory guaranteed the team a place in the qualification rounds of the 2026/27 UEFA Conference League. Alashkert are currently second in the league table, although they may drop to fourth after the remaining matches of the round. However, their European berth is already secured.

As a result, all four Armenian representatives in European competitions for the 2026/27 season are now known:

Noah — UEFA Conference League qualification, second round
Pyunik — UEFA Conference League qualification, first round
Alashkert — UEFA Conference League qualification, first round

In another crucial match of the day, BKMA and Ararat played out a 1-1 draw. This result allowed the Yerevan club to keep its place in the Armenian Premier League.

At the end of the season, Ararat and Shirak both finished with 13 points, but the Yerevan side placed higher in the table. Their head-to-head record was level, so the next criterion was the number of wins during the season. Ararat had three victories, while Shirak had two.

To avoid relegation, Shirak needed either a win over Alashkert or a defeat for Ararat against BKMA. However, neither condition was met: Shirak lost their match, while Ararat earned one point and avoided relegation.

As a result, Shirak finished bottom of the Armenian Premier League table with 13 points and, as things stand, leave the top division, making way for Sardarapat.
