The Tolyatti club want to sign 21-year-old Pyunik midfielder Karlen Hovhannisyan and are discussing a five-year contract with the player. The Armenian club have yet to respond to the offer.
Akron have offered 70 million rubles (around $840,000) to Pyunik for the transfer of Karlen Hovhannisyan. The Tolyatti club are also discussing a five-year contract with the midfielder, according to Karp.
Pyunik have not yet given a final answer and have asked for time to consider the proposal. At the same time, Akron are not limiting themselves to Hovhannisyan and are also exploring other options to strengthen the squad.
Hovhannisyan is a product of Pyunik’s academy and has spent almost his entire career within the club’s system. In total, the midfielder has made 81 appearances, scored six goals and provided three assists for Pyunik’s teams, while also featuring in the UEFA Conference League.
In 2023, Karlen joined BKMA for two seasons, playing for the army club while completing his military service. Hovhannisyan made 53 appearances for BKMA and recorded four goals and one assist.
After completing his military service, the midfielder returned to Pyunik in June 2025 and established himself in the first team. In 2026, Hovhannisyan received a call-up to the Armenia senior national team and featured in friendly matches against Belarus, Kazakhstan and Moldova.
The 21-year-old midfielder had previously attracted interest from Lokomotiv Moscow. The Russian club made an official enquiry about a possible transfer, but Pyunik refused to sell the player.
Now Akron have made their move for Hovhannisyan. The Armenian club’s response is still unknown.
