The Dagestani wrestler representing Bahrain, Ahmed Tazhudinov, sensationally lost in the semifinals of the World Freestyle Wrestling Championship. This ended his unbeaten streak, which had lasted since 2023.
In the semifinals, Ahmed lost to the representative of Iran, the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games, Amirali Azarpira, with a score of 2:5.
Ahmed's streak began with winning the Asian Championship in April 2023. After that, he won two Asian Championships (2023, 2024), the Asian Games (2023), the World Championships (2023) and the Olympic Games in Paris (2024). After these high results, this series was finally interrupted.
