Adelia Petrosyan to Compete in Olympic Qualifying Tournament

17-year-old figure skater of Armenian descent and two-time Russian champion Adelia Petrosyan has been granted the right to participate in the qualifying tournament for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, which will be held in Beijing in September. The tournament will take place under a neutral flag, according to the official website of the International Skating Union (ISU).
The decision became possible after the ISU approved the list of athletes allowed to compete in the qualifying events as “Individual Neutral Athletes” (AIN). These skaters underwent a special vetting process, during which their public statements and potential ties to the military or state structures of Russia and Belarus were evaluated.
In addition to Petrosyan, Alina Gorbacheva will also be one of the main participants in the tournament, while Vladislav Dzhikidzhin and Pyotr Gumennik have been named as alternates.
The Winter Olympic Games in Milan will be held from February 6 to 22, 2026.
It should be noted that Semyon Danilyants may also qualify for the Olympic Games in 2026 as part of the Armenian national team.
