Zhora Akopyan Kicks Off with Victory at K-1 Grand Prix 2025 in Tokyo (VIDEO)

On September 7, the K-1 World MAX 2025 tournament took place in Tokyo, where Armenian kickboxer Zhora Akopyan confidently began his campaign with an impressive victory.
In the opening fight of the Grand Prix, Akopyan faced Samoa’s Jonathan Ailu and won by unanimous decision. All three judges scored in favor of the Armenian fighter — 30:26, 30:27, 30:28.

Throughout the fight, Akopyan dominated the action, sending his opponent to the canvas several times. Thanks to this success, he advanced to the next round of the prestigious tournament.
Zhora Akopyan continues the proud traditions of Armenian kickboxers in the Tokyo ring. Back in the early 2010s, Giorgio Petrosyan fought his legendary battles in Tokyo against Zambidis and Watanabe.
