2026 U23 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships Conclude: Russia First, Armenia Second

On March 15, the 2026 U23 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships concluded in Zrenjanin, Serbia. On the final day of the tournament, the winners and medalists were determined in the 60 kg, 67 kg, 72 kg, 82 kg, and 97 kg weight categories.
On the last day, two wrestlers from Russia became champions, as well as one representative each from Armenia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan.
In total, the Armenian national team won 4 medals at the tournament — 2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. Suren Agadzhanyan (60 kg) and Aramais Harutyunyan (130 kg) became European champions. Samvel Terteryan (77 kg) won a silver medal, while Manvel Khachatryan (55 kg) became a bronze medalist.
Ashot Khachatryan (72 kg) was also close to winning a medal, finishing in fifth place.
The Armenian wrestlers had an excellent tournament and finished second in the team standings. It should be noted that in freestyle wrestling competitions the Armenian team also achieved a strong result, finishing third.
The Russian national team won the most gold medals in Greco-Roman wrestling — as in freestyle wrestling — claiming 5 gold medals. Wrestlers from Azerbaijan, Ukraine, and Moldova each won one gold medal.
