Henrikh Mkhitaryan will start from the first minute against his former club, as the official lineups have been announced for the Champions League league-phase final-round match between Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan.
This is a special encounter for the Armenian midfielder: it was in Dortmund that he enjoyed one of the brightest spells of his European career. Now he returns to a familiar stadium as a key player for the Nerazzurri.
Tournament intrigue
Inter approach the game after three consecutive defeats in the Champions League, which has significantly complicated their position in the standings. At the same time, the Milan side look confident in the domestic league, leading their closest challengers by five points.
A win in Dortmund could — albeit with slim chances — send the Italian club directly into the Round of 16 without the need for playoff matches.
Even a draw would guarantee Inter the right to host the second leg of a potential playoff tie at San Siro, which also carries strategic importance.
Starting lineups
Borussia Dortmund (3-4-2-1):
Kobel; Can, Mané, Schlotterbeck; Ryerson, J. Bellingham, Nmecha, Bensebaini; Bayer, Fábio Silva; Guirassy.
Head coach: Niko Kovač.
Inter (3-5-2):
Sommer; Bisseck, Akanji, Acerbi; Luis Henrique, Sučić, Zieliński, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Bonny, M. Thuram.
Head coach: Cristian Chivu.
The match will be officiated by a Romanian refereeing team led by István Kovács.
Where to watch
In Russia, the broadcast is available on the Okko platform, while in Armenia the match will be shown by Fast Sports. Local interest, of course, is largely tied to Mkhitaryan’s performance.
Kickoff is at 23:00 Moscow time and 00:00 Yerevan time. This match concludes the overall league phase and will directly affect the final standings ahead of the playoffs.
