Armenian weightlifter Varazdat Lalayan has been included in the list of nominees for the title of Europe’s Best Weightlifter 2025.
In 2025, the athlete delivered outstanding performances, becoming the winner of both the European and World Championships, making him one of the leading contenders for the prestigious award.
The list of nominees also includes:
- Muhammed Ozbek (Turkey)
- Marin Robu (Moldova)
- Karlos Nasar (Bulgaria)
- Goderdzi Berdelidze (Georgia)
- Lorenzo Tarquini (Italy)
- Kianoush Rostami (Kosovo)
- Marcos Ruiz Velasco (Spain)
- Rafael Friedrich (Germany)
- Yevgeniya Tsikhantsou (Belarus)
- Varazdat Lalayan (Armenia)
Earlier, it was reported that Armenian athlete Alexandra Grigoryan was also nominated for the title of Europe’s Best Female Weightlifter 2025.
The winners of the award will be announced at the 2026 European Championships, which will take place from April 19 to 26 in Batumi, Georgia.
