Terteryan and Harutyunyan reach finals of the U23 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships

Armenian wrestlers Samvel Terteryan (77 kg) and Aramais Harutyunyan (130 kg) have reached the finals of the 2026 U23 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships, taking place in Zrenjanin, Serbia.

18-year-old Terteryan defeated U23 world champion Irfan Mirzoev (Ukraine) 9:3 and Hungary’s Dominik Botos on his way to the final. In the semifinal, the Armenian wrestler faced the reigning champion Alexandru Solovei (Moldova). The bout ended 1:1, but Terteryan advanced to the final thanks to additional criteria. In the final he will face Russia’s Danil Grigoryev.

Aramais Harutyunyan (130 kg) confidently defeated Ukraine’s Ivan Yankovsky 6:0 in the semifinal. Earlier he also beat Alexander Melekhov (Russia) 4:1 and Leonhardt Junger (Austria) 5:0. In the final he will face U20 world and European champion Laszlo Darabos (Hungary).

Members of the Armenian team Armen Sukiassian (63 kg) and Vigen Nazaryan (87 kg) will finish the tournament without medals.

The finals of the first competition day will take place on March 14 at 18:00 (Serbian time).
