Armenia loses to Ireland in a hard-fought 2026 World Cup qualifier

The Armenia national football team suffered a narrow defeat in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, losing 0–1 to Ireland in Dublin.
It was a tough match for Slaven Bilić’s side. In the 52nd minute, Tigran Barseghyan received a straight red card for unsporting behavior, leaving the team with ten men. The hosts took advantage of the situation: in the 70th minute, striker Evan Ferguson scored the only goal of the match.

Despite the loss, the Armenian team showed character and determination. The players followed their coach’s instructions with discipline and fought until the final whistle. Goalkeeper Henry Avagyan was especially impressive, making five key saves and preventing several certain goals.
In another Group F match, Hungary and Portugal drew 2–2. Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace was matched by goals from Attila Szalai and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Armenia will play its next match on November 13 in Yerevan against Hungary.
