The Armenia U19 national team secured the biggest win in its history, defeating Gibraltar 9–0 in the third round of the first qualifying stage for the 2026/27 UEFA European Championship. The match took place on March 30 in Antalya, Turkey.
Eight different players scored for Armenia. Pyunik midfielder Zhirayr Ashikyan netted a brace. Noah players Maykl Asiryan, Albert Gareginyan, and David Davtyan each scored once. Ararat-Armenia midfielders Harutyun Movsisyan and Martun Hovhannisyan also found the net. Among the foreign-based players, David Batoyan (Rostov) and Daniel Ambardzumov (Krasnodar) scored one goal each. Ambardzumov also provided two assists, while Batoyan added one.
After three rounds, the team led by head coach Razmik Grigoryan finished second in the group, behind Kosovo. Armenia remained unbeaten in all three matches and recorded the largest victory in its U19 history. The previous record dated back to 2005, when Armenia defeated Hungary 5–1.
Armenia still had a chance to finish first, but Kosovo defeated Turkey 3–1 in a parallel match. Armenia only needed a draw (0–0 or 1–1) to secure the top spot.
