Head coach of Yerevan’s Noah, Sandro Perković, commented on the performance of the Armenia U19 national team in the UEFA European Championship 2026/27 qualification.
The team led by Razmik Grigoryan finished second in their group, where they faced Kosovo, Turkey, and Gibraltar. Armenia remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, drawing with Kosovo and Turkey (both matches ended 1–1), and securing a dominant 9–0 victory over Gibraltar.
This result is historic for the U19 team. The win against Gibraltar became the biggest in the history of Armenia’s team in this age category. The previous record was set in 2005, when Armenia defeated Hungary 5–1.
It is worth noting that before this, Armenia U19’s last victory in official matches dated back to 2021. Since then, the team had managed only one draw — against Belarus (1–1) in 2022. Therefore, their performance in the 2026 qualifiers can be considered a real breakthrough.
Perković highly praised the team’s progress:
“Congratulations to the Armenia U19 national team. A few months ago, I said that Armenia has a lot of talent, and this generation proved it in matches against Kosovo, Turkey, and Gibraltar.
I congratulate all the coaches working with players both in clubs and the national team, as well as the head coach and the players themselves.
We face a big task — to unlock the potential of these players using knowledge, experience, and energy. Armenia truly has many talented players; it is important to develop them properly. This is a shared responsibility — from the federation to club coaches,” Perković said at the press conference.
It is also worth highlighting the contribution of Noah players to the team’s success:
David Davtyan (on loan at Gandzasar) — played in all matches, 1 goal and 1 assist
Artur Movsesyan (on loan at BKMA) — started all matches, key defender
Albert Gareginyan — played in all matches, scored 1 goal
Maykl Asiryan — played in all matches, scored 2 goals
Roman Khachatryan — reserve goalkeeper
The Armenia U19 national team will continue their qualification campaign in the second round, which will take place in autumn.
