Robert Simonyan – World Champion in U20 Sambo

Armenian sambo athlete Robert Simonyan (58 kg) won the gold medal at the 2025 U20 World Youth Sambo Championships, held in Bogor, Indonesia.

In the final, Simonyan secured a confident 5:2 victory over Tajikistan’s Anushevron Nazarzoda. On his way to the decisive match, he also defeated opponents from Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

On the first day of the competition, Gor Shatveryan (71 kg, U18) also brought a medal to Team Armenia, winning bronze.

The 2025 World Sambo Championships in Indonesia will run until October 5.
