Armenian wrestler Levik Mikayelyan (61 kg) won the gold medal at the 2026 U23 European Freestyle Wrestling Championships, held in Zrenjanin, Serbia. With this victory, Mikaelyan became a two-time European champion in the U23 category.
In the final bout, the Armenian athlete once again faced Azerbaijani wrestler Jeyhun Allahverdiyev. Just like a year ago, Mikaelyan secured a 2–1 victory. Notably, the 2025 final in Tirana between the same opponents ended with the same score.
On his way to the final, Mikaelyan confidently defeated wrestlers from Moldova, Bulgaria, and Turkey.
The Armenian wrestler now has two gold medals at the U23 European Championships, as well as two silver medals from the U20 European Championships.
