Mariam Stepanyan appointed head coach of Armenia women’s national football team

The Armenia women’s national football team has a new head coach. Mariam Stepanyan has been appointed to lead the team. She previously worked with the country’s U-19 national team.
The appointment marks an important step in the development of women’s football in Armenia. Stepanyan already has significant experience working within the national team system and is well familiar with many young players who could join the senior squad in the coming years.
Commenting on her appointment, the specialist said she accepts the new role with great enthusiasm and responsibility.
“I accept the position of head coach with great joy and responsibility. I am proud of the opportunity to work with this team. I hope that together we will work with full dedication and achieve positive results. I wish all of us success on this path,” Stepanyan said.
President of the Football Federation of Armenia Armen Melikbekyan also congratulated the new coach and expressed confidence that her experience will help the team progress.
According to him, Mariam Stepanyan has worked with various Armenian youth national teams for many years and is well acquainted with the women’s football development system in the country. Under her leadership, Armenia’s women’s U-17 and U-19 teams achieved their first victories in the European Championship qualification stages.
The federation believes that her accumulated experience, professional approach, and dedication will help Stepanyan take the national team to a new level.
The Armenia women’s national team will play its first match under the new head coach on April 14. On that day, the Armenian team will host the Belarus national team.
It also became known today that the previous head coach, Artak Adamyan, left the team at his own request.
