In early March, the Belarus men’s and women’s biathlon teams are holding a training camp in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia. The team is working at a base located about 2,000 meters above sea level, allowing athletes to prepare for upcoming competitions in high-altitude conditions.
According to Belarusian biathlete Dmitry Lazovsky, the training base in Tsaghkadzor leaves only positive impressions. In an interview with sport5.by, the athlete noted that the conditions for preparation here are at a very high level.
“A fantastic base, and the altitude is perfect as well. It’s number one in my ranking — I don’t know a better place. The main thing is that when you come here, it feels like the body starts to flourish. And the results achieved after training here are, let’s say, undeniable,” Lazovsky said.
High-altitude camps are traditionally used by biathletes to improve functional readiness and endurance ahead of important competitions. Such conditions help athletes adapt more effectively to heavy workloads and improve their overall physical form.
The next competitions for Belarusian biathletes are scheduled in Tyumen. From March 14 to 22, the Russian Biathlon Championships will take place there, with representatives of the Belarusian team set to participate.
