Katvalyan advances to the Round of 16 at the Futures Cup U19 in Bangkok

Armenian boxer Suren Katvalyan (65 kg) made a successful start at the international Futures Cup U19 tournament taking place in Bangkok.

In his opening bout, Katvalyan secured an early victory over a boxer representing Saudi Arabia and confidently advanced to the Round of 16 of the competition.

After a series of knockdowns in the second round, the referee stopped the fight.

The Armenian boxer’s next opponent will be Asaan Jenkins (USA).

Another Armenian representative, Karen Zakharyan (60 kg), has finished his participation in the tournament. In his third bout, he lost to a boxer from Ukraine by a 0–5 judges’ decision.

It should be noted that the Futures Cup U19 serves as a qualification tournament for the 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games.
