Results of Day 1 of the U23 European Freestyle Wrestling Championships: first finalists determined

On March 9 in Zrenjanin (Serbia), the semifinal bouts were held in five weight categories at the U23 European Freestyle Wrestling Championships. By the end of the day, the finalists were determined in the 57 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 79 kg, and 97 kg weight classes.
Russian wrestlers performed most successfully, with all five representatives of Russia advancing to the finals. Two athletes from Azerbaijan will also compete for gold, along with one representative each from Belarus. Moldova and Ukraine.
Three wrestlers from the Armenian national team still have chances to win bronze medals. Two of them will continue in the repechage rounds, while Arman Musikyan (65 kg), after losing in the semifinal, will immediately compete in the bronze medal bout.
The finals in these weight categories will take place on March 10. On the same day, competitions will start in the 61 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, and 125 kg categories.
