Iboyan and Khachatryan to compete for bronze at the U23 European Championships

Armenian freestyle wrestlers Knyaz Iboyan (92 kg) and Khachatur Khachatryan (125 kg) competed in the repechage round on the third day of the U23 European Wrestling Championships, fighting for a place in the bronze medal match.

Both Armenian representatives secured victories and will compete for bronze medals later this evening.

Knyaz Iboyan (92 kg) defeated a Bulgarian wrestler 2–0 in the repechage bout to qualify for the bronze medal match. In the small final he will face Mustafagadzhi Malachdibirov (Russia).

Meanwhile, Khachatur Khachatryan (125 kg) won his repechage bout against a Romanian wrestler by fall, advancing to the bronze medal match as well. He will face Stepan Mandryk (Belarus) for third place.

Another Armenian wrestler, Levik Mikayelyan (61 kg), will compete in the gold medal final later today. His opponent will be Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (Azerbaijan).

The final session of the competition will begin at 20:00 Moscow time (21:00 Yerevan time).

Earlier, the Armenian team had already won two bronze medals at the tournament in Zrenjanin, Serbia, and today the team may add three more medals to its tally.
