Armenian football club Hayq has officially announced the signing of Ivorian forward Isaac Drogba, the son of legendary striker Didier Drogba.
The 25-year-old footballer is a graduate of the Chelsea academy in London. After spending time in the English club’s system, he continued his career in France, where he played for Guingamp. Drogba Jr.’s last club was the Belgian side La Louvière. At Hayk, the forward will wear the number 22 shirt.
Earlier, Sportaran had already reported the player’s move to the Armenian team, and now the club has officially introduced its new signing.
Notably, Drogba had already been included in Hayk’s squad for the First League matchday 18 game on March 2. The striker did not appear on the pitch in that match, but his presence in the official match report confirmed that he was already with the team.
Like his famous father, Isaac Drogba plays as a central striker, although he is smaller in stature — the forward is 178 cm tall. Despite being the son of one of the best strikers of his generation, he has not yet made a major impact at senior level. Previously, Drogba Jr. played in Italy’s Serie D and in the fourth division of the Belgian championship.
