Finn Azaz joins Southampton, Spertsyan transfer saga closed

English club Southampton has officially announced the signing of midfielder Finn Azaz from Middlesbrough for €14 million. The 24-year-old Irishman plays as an attacking midfielder, a position where Armenian footballer Eduard Spertsyan was previously considered the main reinforcement candidate.

Thus, the story of Spertsyan’s possible move to the Premier League club has come to an end. It should be recalled that Southampton had submitted an official offer to Krasnodar worth €14.5 million plus bonuses, but no concrete response was received. As a result, the Saints switched to an alternative option and quickly completed the deal with Azaz.

Interestingly, on September 9 Finn Azaz may face the Armenian national team — representing Ireland in the Nations League match against Armenia.
