The 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV, which was scheduled to take place in Kuwait, may be postponed to a later date. This was reported by the Telegram channel Hockey Exotic.
According to the source, the Council of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) plans to hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss the organization of upcoming tournaments in Middle Eastern countries — particularly in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
The Division IV tournament is scheduled to begin in Kuwait in about a month. Among the participants is the Armenian national team. However, due to the tense situation in the Middle East, the staging of the competition has come under threat.
According to sources from Hockey Exotic, the most likely scenario is that the championship will be moved to later dates. Relocating the tournament to another country is considered unlikely. In theory, Armenia could host the event, but there is too little time left before the start of the tournament to organize it.
It is worth recalling that the 2025 Division IV World Championship was held in Yerevan.
