Bachkov defends WBA Continental title by stopping Arcon in Dubai (VIDEO)

Armenian boxer Hovhannes Bachkov (9-0) secured an impressive victory over previously undefeated Venezuelan Luis Arcon (16-1-1), winning by technical knockout in the 4th round. With this result, the Armenian fighter successfully defended his WBA Continental super lightweight title.

This marks Bachkov’s ninth professional victory, with 8 of them coming by stoppage, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most dangerous punchers in the division.

The fighters’ history adds extra intrigue to the matchup. Bachkov and Arcon previously met in the amateurs at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, where Bachkov won by split decision. Nearly 10 years later, the long-awaited rematch took place in the professional ring — and once again, Bachkov emerged victorious, this time in more convincing fashion.

The bout served as the main event of the BATL Promotions event held on April 3 in Dubai.

Also on the card, Anait Aroyan claimed victory, adding to the strong performances of Armenian boxers at the event.
