Armenian freestyle wrestler Arsen Harutyunyan (57 kg) made a confident start at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb. The four-time European champion earned a quick technical victory in the round of 1/16 against Ukraine’s Vladyslav Abramov (10:0), then prevailed in a tense battle against strong Mongolian wrestler Munkh-Erdene Batkhuyag with a score of 13:8.
Thus, Harutyunyan advanced to the quarterfinals, where he will face the 2024 Paris Olympic silver medalist, Spencer Lee (USA). The American started from the round of 1/8 and needed only one minute to defeat Turkey’s Yusuf Demir, which means he will enter the match fresher.
The Harutyunyan vs. Lee match is scheduled for today, approximately at 16:30 Yerevan time.
