Armenian Athletes Competed at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo

Armenian athletes took part in the World Athletics Championships, held in Tokyo from September 13 to 21.
29-year-old Yervand Mkrtchyan competed in the 1500m event, finishing 13th in his qualifying heat with a time of 3:48.21.
In the marathon, Armenia was represented by 38-year-old Nina Usubyan, who made her debut at the World Championships as part of the national team. She finished 44th with a time of 2:42:37.
Usubyan began competing for Armenia in 2025, having previously represented Russia. Her main specialization is the marathon, but in the United States she has also participated in ultradistance races, including the prestigious Wings for Life World Run over 60 km, where she has achieved victories. Since 2019, Nina has been living in the U.S. with her husband, Maksim Usubyan.
