The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) has published its annual ranking of the world’s top 100 national leagues based on 2025 results. The Armenian Premier League placed 60th in the list with 285.5 points.
In the updated classification, the Armenian championship is positioned just behind Sweden’s league. At the same time, the Armenian league outperformed several countries with notable football traditions, including Iran (62nd), Belarus (63rd), Finland (66th), Australia (73rd), Kazakhstan (74th), Georgia (80th), and Slovakia (89th).
However, Armenia’s league position declined compared to last year: in the 2024 ranking, Armenia held a higher 46th place.
World ranking leaders
The English Premier League once again topped the global ranking with 2,359 points. For England, this marks the sixth time leading the IFFHS annual ranking, which has been compiled since 1991.
The top six also include:

- Brazil (Serie A) — 1,999
- Italy (Serie A) — 1,972
- Germany (Bundesliga) — 1,880
- France (Ligue 1) — 1,502
Spain’s La Liga retained second place, ahead of Brazil’s championship. Italy’s Serie A dropped three positions but remained above Germany’s Bundesliga. France’s Ligue 1 returned to sixth place.
The rest of the top ten:
7. Portugal (Primeira Liga)
8. Argentina (Liga Profesional)
9. Netherlands (Eredivisie)
10. Colombia (Primera A), up two spots.
About the ranking
IFFHS annually publishes various rankings covering the best players, clubs, national teams, and leagues. However, the organization does not fully disclose its point calculation methodology, which often leads to its classifications being viewed as conditional and partly subjective.
