Armenian Wrestlers Win Medals at the Russian U17 Freestyle Wrestling Championship

On February 19, the 2026 Russian U17 Freestyle Wrestling Championship concluded in Irkutsk. Representatives of the Armenian community achieved strong results, becoming medalists of the national championship.

In the 60 kg weight category, Sergey Karmryan (Krasnodar Krai) won the silver medal. The athlete, representing Sochi, trains under the guidance of Ashot Terteryan.

Another silver medal was claimed by Artyom Ananyan (Moscow Region), who finished second in the 71 kg weight category.

It is also worth highlighting success in women’s wrestling: Margarita Salnazarayan (Moscow Region) became the Russian U20 champion in the 65 kg weight category, confirming the high level of preparation and promising future of Armenian athletes on the national stage.
