Judoka Armen Aghaian, competing under a neutral flag in the under 73 kg category, won a silver medal at the 2025 Summer Universiade in Berlin. In the final bout, he lost to Moldova's Adil Osmanov, but before that, he secured four confident victories — against opponents from Taipei, South Korea, Brazil, and France.
The Armenian team was also represented by Davit Aghasyan (66 kg), who was eliminated in the first round after losing to Japan's Kairi Kentoku. Notably, Kentoku went on to win the gold medal in this weight class.
On July 26, another Armenian representative, Gor Karapetyan (under 100 kg), will take to the mat, continuing Armenia’s participation in the Universiade.
