Six-time world champion and two-time Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulayev will not compete at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. This was announced by the press service of United World Wrestling (UWW).
Abdulrashid was part of the Russian national team in the 97 kg weight category and had received permission from UWW to participate in the world championships. However, as was the case before the European Championships, he was not granted a Schengen visa and was denied entry into Croatia.
Sadulayev is now missing his third major tournament: the Olympic Games in Paris, then the European Championships, and now the World Championships.
His place on the team will be taken by 2021 world championship silver medalist Magomed Kurbanov.
